How To Make Right Choices:Tips For Christian Youths

One of the biggest challenges for young people is making right choices. When it comes to decision-making, many youths, myself included, find it difficult to decide. When I was younger, my parents dedicated their energy to teaching and raising me right. I was taught simple basic etiquette, like how to talk, eat, and behave. However, as I grew older, I thought it was very unnecessary. “Why all these rules?” I wondered to myself. Gradually, I felt the urge to rebel. Whenever I was corrected or rebuked, I would wear a frown and mutter words like “I’m grown, I don’t need anyone to tell me what to do”.

As I navigated through my teenage years, I encountered opportunities to make decisions. I had to choose and some of the choices I made ultimately shaped the course of my life. I made some regrettable decisions and faced the consequences. It became clear to me that every decision carries weight and has repercussions thus making the right choice matters.

Knowledge Is Vital to make right choices

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs 4:7

As I enter my twenties, I’ve come to understand that making the right choices is crucial for a successful journey through life. The beauty of being a Homo sapiens is that we are blessed with free will. We have been given the ability to make choices, and every choice we make, whether good or bad, comes with consequences. When it comes to making the right choices, I believe there is no one-size-fits-all rule. However, knowledge plays a crucial role in decision-making. What you don’t know can harm you, and if you choose the unknown out of ignorance, you might face unforeseen consequences.

In my own words, I believe that to make the right choices in life, you must humble yourself and be open to learning. You should be willing to learn from those who have more experience than you. Many teenagers and young adults often feel too proud to accept corrections. It’s a phase we all go through. As we grow older, we start to think that we know everything. However, knowledge is always expanding, and what you knew yesterday might not be accurate today. Therefore, it’s important to remain open to learning. Knowledge is powerful, and having the right kind of knowledge can help you make wise choices.
