In a previous blog post, we established a fact that growing up in the Lord is a choice. Unlike physical growth that happens by default, spiritual growth is a choice. A healthy spiritual life is a process of growth. It’s a process you choose and stick to.
As a young believer (a Christian youth), the blessing you enjoy in Christ includes not only redemption but also renewal (Titus 3:5). This renewal involves spiritual growth.
Sadly, many have been Christians for years, with little change or improvement. Failing to grow spiritually, they become stagnant like a pool of water.
"Spiritual Growth (like emotional maturity) occurs only when we choose to grow.
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
Titus 3:5

Spiritual Growth is a choice that is :
1. Commanded by God:
Every parent desires to watch their children grow up. It brings them Joy when they see their child acting maturely and making right decisions. Just like our earthly parents, our heavenly Father desires that each and every believer grows and matures in their faith.
Spiritual growth is a choice that is commanded by God. You have been given the mandate to preach the gospel, make disciples, baptise them, and teach them to observe all things Christ commanded.
God wants us to be constantly growing as we learn and obey him. (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Peter 3: 18)
Spiritual Growth is not an option, reserves for a few select christians. The word of God commands every christian to grow.

2. Spiritual Growth Requires Diligent Effort:
Growing up spiritually requires effort. It is not automatic; you have to put in the work.
You have to be willing to spend time in the Word, spend time in prayer, and be ready to unlearn and relearn.
Spiritual growth is not easy, but you can take comfort knowing that spiritual growth is a choice which is assisted by God. You are not alone; while you put in the effort, God is at work in you . Philippians 2: 12-13
The Spirit of God also strengthens you and empowers you to keep going and growing. ( Ephesians 3:16; 3:20)
"With God as your aid, spiritual growth is possible".

3: Spiritual Growth is a choice that is blessed by God:
The beauty about spiritual growth is the blessings attached to it. As you grow in Christ, you also grow in grace.
You are at peace with God, and rejoice even in the face of trials.
When you desire spiritual growth and choose it daily, you start to walk in the Spirit and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, like kindness, gentleness, love, etc.
You experience the abundant life in Christ. You increase in knowledge and can withstand the schemes of the enemy.
Now that is indeed wonderful!
Conclusion
In this post, we talked about the choice of spiritual growth. Scripture warns that in the end times the hearts of some grow dull (Matthew 13:15), the love of many grows cold (Matthew 24:12), and some will grow corrupt according to deceitful lust (Ephesians 4:22).
Nonetheless, those who make the choice to grow spiritually will experience the vibrant kind of growth in which they are abounding in love, joy, peace, being faithful and fruitful in their service to Christ.
I pray you make the choice to grow spiritually and walk in the light of Christ. Amen
