THE ARCHITECT

person in a construction site

“The architect would be stopping by today”

“To do what?” Said the other man who was moulding bricks. His friend looked at him and asked surprisingly “what do you mean by asking such a senseless question?”

“Well,” his friend said “I mean we are the constructors of this house, we are the ones working here and not Him. He should just let us be and allow us to do our thing” he walked away with the molded bricks on his shoulder without waiting for a reply from his friend.

Some hours later, the architect arrived with a few of His men expecting to see some progress. However, upon getting to the construction site He was disappointed. What he saw was not what He expected. He was shocked! The very men who were supposed to be building were seated exchanging money and selling.

The site was in a mess and it needed serious cleaning. Without saying a word, The Architect went right in and with no hesitation turned their tables. He drove out all those who were selling and buying in His house.

Some of the men, out of anger decided to confront Him. ” How could you?” they asked. ” Why would you drive out the others and turned over our tables?” The architect looked at them, shook His head, and said ” I didn’t design this house for you to turn it into a hideout for thieves. It’s meant for work(prayer and worship)

” Listen here Mr. Architect, we know this house is your design but unlike you, we don’t sit in fancy office drawing plans. We are the constructors and we are the ones building this house” they said.

” I can pull this building down and put it up in not less than three days” this was His response. The men didn’t seem to get His point so they walked away still furious.

MATTHEW 21:12-13

12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’[a] but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’[b] NIV

ARCHITECTUS is a Latin term that is derived from a Greek word meaning THE CHIEF BUILDER. Our bodies which are God’s temple(house) was designed by the chief builder. Although we as the constructors are responsible to care and tend for this house, let us not forget that we are answerable to The Architect. If he was to stop by today for a visit, will he be pleased with the condition of the house(temple/body/life)?

1 Corinthians 6:19 19Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; NIV

we are temples of God

A temple is a place of worship and a place for fellowship. Every temple especially that of God is expected to be clean, purified, and in order. The day we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour, we acknowledged Him as the Cheif builder of our lives and we gave Him the go-ahead to work on us through the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 2:5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ( NIV)

Romans 12:1  Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.(NIV)

That being said, when our Architect comes for a visit and sees what he doesn’t like, He will do the needful. He will start by driving out anything in us that is not buying or selling for His Glory. That’s not all, He will also overturn and shake tables…..tables of envy, tables of lust, tables of pride, tables strife, etc. He will also uproot and unseat anything that’s not His. In short, He will purify us. This purification is drastic but it’s necessary. Some people won’t like it because it’s not a comfortable process.

After all the driving out and turning of tables, He will then take His seat and teach us how to work/build our temples His way. after all, we are His workmanship and we were created in Him for good works!

THE ARCHITECT

PRAYER

Dear Jesus, we are sorry for not keeping our houses clean, sorry that instead of building for your glory we chose to sit and sell ungodliness. Today we ask you to come have a look and purify us. Drive all that needs to be driven out. Shake and turn over tables. Turn us upside down, shake off any carnality in us. Fill our temples with your Holy Ghost fire to purify us. Illuminate every darkness in us and radiate your glory. Our temples need purification and renovation. Amen
