During the week, I saw a post on Instagram with the caption #whitejesusmustfall. I went through the comment section and what I saw got me thinking. As I was pondering about it, the Holy Spirit reminded of these words
“who do men say I am?”
That question sounded familiar. Ahh yes!,I read something like that from the book of Luke.
And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “WHO DO THE CROWDS SAY THAT I AM?“—-Luke 9:18
When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “WHO DO MEN SAY THAT I, THE SON OF MAN, AM?“—–Matthew 16:13
For years there have been confusion and arguments about the identity of Christ. Even while he was alive, there was confusion. The people close to Him(his disciples) didn’t even know who he was. For Him to have asked them this question “E get why”. Fast forward to today, we see the same trend, even among the “elect”.
Some say He is not white
Some say He never really existed
Some say He didn’t die
Some say He is “just a prophet”
Some say His name is not even Jesus, that Jesus is a white man’s name🤦♀️
Some even say He might have been female🤷♀️
So much more
Again He is asking“Who do men say I am?”
After you have heard it all from people and their thoughts about him(Matthew 16:14, Luke 9:19) He is now asking you as an individual “Who do YOU say I am? (Matthew 16:15, Luke 9:20)
The answer to this question is based on your walk with Him. As Christians, we are one in Christ but at the same time, we are individuals. Christianity is not just a religion. Simply because you have a Christian name or you were born in a Christian home doesn’t make you one. It’s a way of life, it’s a personal relationship with Jesus. The answer to that question can only be revealed to you by the Holy Spirit(Matthew 16:17). How? Through the scriptures. Every word in the scriptures describes Jesus. You don’t need a picture of him to know how he looks. So be it white, be it black, be it male, be it Asian, be it Arab or even be it female, etc…Jesus is Jesus, the only visible image of the invisible God(Colossians 1:15)Get personal with Him!!
You don’t need a picture of him to know how he looks.
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh–Philippians 3:2&3
