I AM NOT A STRANGER!

stranger

Some time ago, I was going through the book of Ephesians chapter 6 and the part where Paul was talking about us putting on the whole armour of God got my attention. what struck me was when he mentioned the first weapon which was the belt of truth.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist…….(Ephesians 6:14)

Normally I would just conclude that what he meant was us being truthful and honest. But a preacher made me understand that putting on the whole armour of God is putting on Christ Himself. So Jesus is the truth and by putting on the belt of Truth we are putting on Christ and in Him, we can resist the lies of the devil.

The devil is the father of all lies. He has a way of making a lie look so truthful. As I pondered on this reality I remembered an experience I had some time ago. It was one evening when I was trying to pray and all of a sudden I felt like a stranger in God’s presence. That feeling was awful, I felt like an outcast! There I was crying and feeling pity for myself when the Holy Spirit reminded me of when Jesus was talking to His disciples. The part where He was telling them that they are no longer just servants for servants does not know what their master is up to. Rather, they are Friends for everything he plans on doing, He has revealed it to them.

no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15)

If I am a friend of Jesus, and I am not condemned, why then was I feeling awful? Then it clicked! that was the devil the master of all lies whispering a lie to me. Oh my! I almost fell for it.

If you have ever felt this way before, I want to tell you something. My dear, You are not a stranger. We are God’s own, created before the foundation of the world to stand holy and blameless in His sight(Ephesians 1:4), and out of Love, He adopted us and predestined us(Ephesians 1:5-7).

You are not, and never will be, a stranger in your own father’s house.

An Easy Way T o Overcome That Feeling

1.Study In The Word:

I am sure you have heard this a thousand times-READ AND STUDY THE WORD. The Holy Spirit can only work on the word you have stored up in you. The more you read the word, the more you become aware of who you are in Christ. so when the devil comes up with lies and accusations remind him of who and whose you are.

2.Speak The Word:

Another way is to remind yourself of your identity in Christ. Speak words of affirmation that are in line with the word of God. For example “I am a child of God, Abba is my father because the scriptures say I have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but I have received the spirit of adoption by which I cry out ABBA, father(Romans 8:15) so I am not a stranger in my father’s presence”

3.Mind Your Surroundings:

Surrounding yourself with like-minded believers is a great tool. Be a part of a community, a family, a local assembly etc for iron sharpens iron. Do not isolate yourself!

4.Pray:

If this feeling persists, you could either pray, asking the Holy Spirit to take the feeling away, or reveal to you what exactly is going on. You can also talk to someone who is trustworthy and spiritual to help you pray

JOIN THE FAMILY!

A CALL!

If you are reading this and you don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus, you might not really understand what it means to have God as your Father(Abba). Salvation is not by your good deeds, it’s by faith in Christ. I encourage you to surrounder your life to Jesus. That’s the only way you can experience the love of Abba in full.

 Pray this prayer with me:

Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of a saviour. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to die for my sins. Thank you Jesus for bearing my sins and giving me the opportunity to walk boldly into the throne of grace to obtain mercy. Today I believe in my heart and I confess with my mouth that you are lord over me. Amen

If you said this prayer Please find a Bible-believing church(either Online or in your neighbourhood) to fellowship with. Also start reading your Bible and asking the Holy Spirit to teach you more. God Bless you.
